Welcome relief for Aughinish Alumina – Neville
16th January 2019 - Tom Neville TD
THE result of a vote which means US sanctions can be lifted on a major Limerick employer is “a welcome relief” to all concerned, Fine Gael TD Tom Neville has said.
Limerick TD Tom Neville said he “very much welcomed today’s result of the ballot in the US Senate” which was unsuccessful to block the US Treasury’s de-listing of Aughinish Alumina’s parent company, Rusal.
“It is a relief for management and the workers of Aughinish Alumina that the issue is moving towards a favourable outcome. I’m very mindful of the workers of Aughinish and the associated businesses, the majority of whom are based in county Limerick.
“I have spoken again with the Taoiseach and Tánaiste on the matter and I have been assured all is continuing to be done by the Irish Government in seeking a favourable solution,” Deputy Neville said.
