US Business comes to Monaghan – Humphreys

7th May 2014 - Aoife Carragher

Fine Gael TD for Cavan Monaghan, Heather Humphreys, today (Wednesday) commended the work of the Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Richard Bruton and his colleagues at Enterprise Ireland, following the announcement of a major US deal for Monaghan’s Combilift.

“Combilift is a world class Monaghan company that has been supporting local jobs since 1998. It is extremely encouraging to see the Government going abroad and bringing back major investment for Monaghan.

“A deal with TimkenSteel Corporation in Houston Texas will see Combilift earn in excess of $600,000 as they provide 5 multidirectional forklifts. This investment is testament to the excellent work being done by Martin McVicar, Robert Moffett and all of the team at Combilft.

“As part of the Government’s Action Plan for Jobs, we are focused on ensuring that growth and development is spread across all regions of the country. Monaghan and Cavan have both been badly hit by the recession. We are starting to see some improvement in economic conditions but more is needed.

“We want to see growth in towns and villages, we want to support local business and in turn see more jobs being created. Today’s news of Combilift’s major deal with TimkenSteel Corporation in the US is testament to the skills on offer and the potential for investment in Monaghan.”
