To ask the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform the objectives for his Department over the next five years; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
REPLY.
The key objectives for my department over the next five years, as I see it, will be:
(a) To manage public expenditure at sustainable levels in a planned, rational and balanced manner in support of Ireland’s economic development and social progress; and
(b) To have public administration and Government structures that are transparent, effective, efficient, innovative, accountable and responsive to the citizen.
A Statement of Strategy for my department for the period 2015-2017 will be finalised and published by the end of this year. This will detail in greater detail the strategic goals and actions to be undetaken by my Department in the period.
