Treatment of Clerys staff shocking and wrong – Farrell
15th June 2015 - fusio
Fine Gael TD for Dublin Fingal, Alan Farrell, has called on the new owners of Clerys to show courtesy to the former staff by meeting them.
“The treatment of the former Clerys staff is shocking and wrong. They have given years of dedicated service to an Irish institution and at the very least deserved the courtesy of a meeting with the new owners, rather than the contemptuous way they have been treated to date.
“The Clerys workers are obviously shocked by the sudden closure of the store on Friday. Such treatment of staff is simply unacceptable and all available supports from the Department of Social Protection should be provided to the affected staff with the utmost urgency.
“I have also spoken to third party concession-holders who have been unable to retrieve their stock. It is quite clear that the no person affected by this decision has been treated in an acceptable manner.
“Hard-working and loyal staff have lost their jobs and they deserve more respect than they have been shown thus far.”
