Time to introduce 24 Hour Dublin Bus Airport Service – Rock

A Fine Gael TD today called on the NTA to immediately work to prioritise a long-promised 24 hour bus link between the City Centre and the airport, following the introduction this week of the first 24 hour bus service in County Cork.

Deputy Noel Rock said: “A 24 hour service in Dublin now makes sense as Dublin moves towards becoming a 24 hour city. Shift workers are starting and finishing right across the day, many of whom work in both the City Centre and the airport.

“Accordingly, it would make perfect sense for this route to be prioritised as the first in Dublin, and I am calling on the NTA to set down a timeline for its introduction as soon as possible.

Deputy Rock, a member of the Oireachtas Transport Committee, asked: “How on earth have the NTA prioritised a 24 hour service from Ballincollig to Carrigaline over the much needed and often requested 24 hour service to Dublin Airport?”

“More than 30 million passengers used Dublin Airport in 2018, and the number of jobs supported and facilitated is in the region of 120,000 – with employees often having to get taxis to and from work.

“Naturally, Metro will play a role in fixing this, but that is still a long time away, so we must work on getting a 24-hour connection between the City Centre and the airport which would service the communities inbetween,” the Dublin North-West TD said.
