Time to change the law to keep bus lanes clear – Rock
25th October 2019 - Noel Rock TD
Fine Gael TD Noel Rock has today called for a change in the law to allow for automatic detection of infringements in bus lanes by cars and vans and for fines to be automatically issued.
Speaking on the matter, Deputy Rock said: “How many times have you been on a bus only for progress to be halted by someone who has parked in a bus lane? It’s all too frequent and is backed up by the fact that 2018 was a record year for fines being issued.”
Deputy Rock continued: “However, the best way to deal with this is to change the law to allow for cars to be automatically detected and fines automatically issued.
“These devices could be placed on buses themselves, as in other countries, or on lampposts in areas where this frequently happens.
Deputy Rock concluded: “It’s a simple, easy step to make commuters’ lives that little bit easier”.
