Taoiseach experiences first hand Naas at its finest

Anthony Lawlor TD, was delighted to welcome An Taoieach Enda Kenny to Naas last Thursday, 1st October. On this beautiful autumnal day, the Taoiseach met with residents, local businesses, school children and also opened the multi million euro, innovative Kerry Centre. The Taoisaech commenced his day by officially opening Cahill Cycles in the Maudlins Industrial Estate. An avid cyclist himself, he enjoyed chatting to owner John Cahill, his family and staff about cycling and promoted it as a sport for all.

He then proceeded to the site of the proposed new second level school, Naas Community College, in the Millennium Park. He was met by students and staff of the newly opened school currently housed on Craddockstown Road. He spent time exploring the site and discussing the plans for the new school. He also met with former Principal, Tom Keegan and his son, current Principal, Ciaran Keegan.

From here he also surveyed the site for the new Osberstown Interchange in the Millennium Park and discussed the benefits of the €110 million road project announced in the Capital Programme, which will also include the Sallins Bypass and the widening of the N7.

The opening of the Kerry Group Facility was next on the agenda where he enjoyed an indepth tour of the facility, met with workers and spent some time in a lift! He was met here with his cabinet colleagues, Minister for Enterprise and Jobs, Richard Bruton TD and Minister for Agriculture, Simon Coveney TD who both enthused in the speeches over the amazing innovative facility and the potential for future development in the area. Indeed, Minister Coveney informed the crowd how universities throughout Ireland are now promoting Naas as a destination for graduates seeking work.

The Taoiseach completed his day at Mongey Communications where he launched their new large outdoor screen product, met with the workers and was interviewed by KFM’s Shane Beatty.

I was very proud of Naas, which was showcased beautifully on the day and it reinforced for me the bright future for Naas.
