State of the art manufacturing facility and new jobs for Carrick-on-Shannon
30th May 2014 - Aoife Carragher
Fine Gael TD for Sligo/ Leitrim, Tony McLoughlin, today (Friday) welcomed the announcement of a €7 million investment and 125 new jobs in Carrick-on-Shannon and Roosky. Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Richard Bruton TD was at VistaMed in Carrick-on-Shannon today to make the announcement.
“This is extremely good news for the Carrick-on-Shannon area. Today marks the opening of the new manufacturing facility and the news of jobs for people in the locality. Recruitment for these positions is already underway and all posts are expected to be filled by the end of 2014.
“It has been a tough few years, especially in the west. The green shoots of economic growth are showing, but after a difficult time, it is very encouraging to see major investment of this kind in the area. The Government’s Action Plan for jobs outlines a commitment to creating jobs in all regions of the country and today’s announcement puts this promise into action. It also highlights the potential of Carrick-on-Shannon as an effective business hub.
“VistaMed is a great example of an Irish company, with world-class product offering, performing strongly in highly competitive global markets and employing large numbers of people in Co. Leitrim. VistaMed is a solution provider for technically challenging Catheter and Extrusion products for a worldwide market and the new extension in Carrick-on-Shannon will allow the company to offer an even more comprehensive design and development service.
“VistaMed has also developed a dedicated R&D engineering laboratory which reinforces VistaMed’s continuing support for innovative design and development projects.
“I am delighted to see such an innovative and successful company set up shop and expand in Leitrim.
