South East hoteliers offer free accommodation to Garth Brooks objectors
9th July 2014 - Sarah Meade
Fine Gael Wexford Senator, Michael D’Arcy, has today (Wednesday) said that he has been in contact with a group of hoteliers in the South East, who are offering to provide hotel accommodation for 300 Croke Park residents free of charge for the five nights of the Garth Brooks concerts, if they withdraw their objections to the events.
“I have been in touch with hoteliers in the South East, who are keen to help bring about a solution for the 400,000 people who have been left very disappointed as a result of the cancellation of the Garth Brooks concerts.
“The hoteliers have offered to make accommodation available for 300 people free of charge for the five scheduled nights of the concerts, if the residents withdraw their objections. This would allow residents to escape the inconvenience of the restrictions which would be imposed for the duration of the concerts.
“The rooms would be targeted at those residents who made submissions to Dublin City Council.
“The group of hoteliers is being led by representatives from the Woodford Dolmen in Carlow. Their proposal will not solve all of the problems surrounding the Garth Brooks concerts, but it could help to bring about a solution.
“I hope the residents take this offer seriously and consider accepting it so one of the roadblocks for these concerts could be removed.”
