31st May 2018 - Neale Richmond, TD
Local Fine Gael Senator, Neale Richmond has welcomed the news that a site has been identified for Stepaside Educate Together Secondary School.
“After years of work on this, I am delighted that Minister for Education, Richard Bruton, has confirmed to me that a potential site has been identified for Stepaside Educate Together Secondary School. Agreement in principle has been reached subject to satisfactory completion of the conveyancing process.
“The specific site is located on lands owned by Horse Racing Ireland off the Ballyogan Road, adjacent to Leopardstown Racecourse.
“This is great news for our area and for the school community.
“Stepaside Educate Together Secondary School is a vital part of our growing local community and when fully up and running, it will cater for 1,000 pupils on a co-educational basis.
“Currently Stepaside Educate Together Secondary School is colocating with Stepaside Educate Together National School at their new home in Belarmine. It is fantastic that the Secondary School will be getting its own site to secure its future. In its short existence so far, the school has excelled in many key areas and there is a huge interest in future enrollment.
“The Department of Education has worked closely with Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council under the Memorandum of Understanding in order to identify and procure a suitable site and I commend all those involved in bringing us to this point.
“I welcome the news that a suitable site has been identifed and I look forward to the process being completed as speedily as possible.”
