Sinn Féin can’t explain their USC plans – Farrell
26th September 2024 - Alan Farrell TD
Sinn Féin could not explain this morning how they will achieve a USC free zone for everyone earning up to €45,000 under their plans.
Before they had even launched their alternative Budget, Sinn Féin’s financial guru Pearse Doherty could not outline the main pillar of their financial offering.
Deputy Alan Farrell, Chairman of Fine Gael’s Parliamentary Party, said the Opposition party’s alternative Budget collapsed at the first hurdle shortly after 8am this morning.
“When questioned on Morning Ireland on RTE Radio 1 and how they would achieve their USC cuts, Pearse Doherty kicked straight to touch and said it would be in their election manifesto.
“Why not tell us today? Why can’t they inform us today? Because they don’t know how to.
“Deputy Doherty went on to say he envisaged the USC cuts might happen in the second year of their Budget.
“This is classic Sinn Féin. They can identify all the problems in the world but when it comes to solutions, they run aground.
“As events worldwide have shown us in recent years, careful financial planning is needed for all unforeseen events. Sinn Féin can’t even plan for what they want to achieve,” Deputy Farrell said.
