Shop local voucher scheme is a great support to Dundalk businesses – D’Arcy
9th April 2015 - Aoife Carragher
Fine Gael Senator for Louth, Jim D’Arcy has welcomed the launch by Dundalk Chamber of Commerce of its new Shop Local Voucher Scheme.
‘It’s a great idea and well worth supporting’, stated Senator D’Arcy.
“The aim of the scheme is to help maintain and promote businesses in Dundalk and surrounding areas. It is aimed primarily at companies who buy vouchers for their staff at Christmas and also for bonus payments throughout the year.
“It is very tax efficient as, under the Revenue Commissioners approved Small Benefit Exemption Scheme, a company can award staff up to €250 as a once off payment that is tax free, while also helping the local economy.
“Dundalk Chamber of Commerce already have over seventy five businesses signed up and will have many more. Shop Local Vouchers are available in €10, €20 and €50 denominations. Log on to www.dundalk.ie/vouchers for a full list and further information.
‘Dundalk Chamber of Commerce and its President Mr. Paddy Matthews are to be warmly congratulated on this initiative. Indeed I would like to see it also introduced in Drogheda and Ardee.”
