Ryder Cup announcement is a huge boost for Limerick and for Ireland – Neville
25th July 2019 - Tom Neville TD
Today’s (Thursday) announcement that the Ryder Cup is to be hosted in Adare Manor in 2026 is a huge boost for Limerick and Ireland in general a Fine Gael TD has said.
Speaking after the announcement, Limerick TD, Tom Neville said: “I would like to congratulate Adare Manor and the McManus family on winning the Ryder cup to be hosted in 2026.
“As a local resident this is fantastic news for Adare, Co Limerick and the wider region.
“Hosting this significant international tournament will have fantastic knock on economic benefits to the mid-west region, the surrounding Munster counties, and Ireland as a whole. It will bring a huge amount of visitors to Ireland from all over Europe and the United States.
“Hosting the Ryder Cup will quite rightly put the beautiful village of Adare front and centre throughout the tournament, highlighting it to a global TV audience.
“I would like to thank also the Minister for Sport and the Government for the support given to help bring about this great achievement for Limerick.
“This announcement comes against the backdrop of a very successful Irish Open in Lahinch and the great win for Shane Lowry in the British Open. What a week for golf in Ireland and it is great to see Adare, with its proud golfing tradition, featuring in the good news.”
