Re-opening of car park great news for Mount Merrion
1st August 2012 - Peter Mathews
The Receiver for Flanagan’s showroom in Mount Merrion has announced that the car park can re-open following a meeting with Mount Merrion residents, Peter Mathews TD and Cllr Barry Saul.
Reacting to the news, Peter Mathews said:
“I met with the receivers last week along with Fine Gael Cllr Barry Saul to highlight the difficulties that the closure of the car park was causing to local businesses.
“The local businesses are already feeling the pinch from the recession. The shortage of parking spaces is a further unwelcome difficulty.
“Thankfully the Receiver, RSM Farrell Grant Sparks, fully took on board the difficulties that the closure of the car park caused. They persuaded their insurer to permit the car park to re-open. Two conditions must be met in order to satisfy the insurers. A sign must be erected stating that motorists who park their car there do so at their own liability and local businesses must lock the car park every evening.
“This is a great result for the local businesses and the local community. I applaud RSM Farrell Grant Sparks for taking an interest in this problem and finding a common sense solution.
