Planning permission secured for new CF ward in Beaumont Hospital – Noone
27th March 2019 - Senator Catherine Noone
Planning permission has been secured for the new Cystic Fibrosis ward in Beaumont Hospital, Senator Catherine Noone has said.
Senator Noone, a Fine Gael candidate in Dublin Bay North, said: “I have been informed today by the Minister for Health that planning permission has been secured for the development of a new Cystic Fibrosis ward in Beaumont Hospital with no significant change in design requirements.
“This long-awaited Inpatient Unit was promised in the Programme for Government and it is great we are now seeing movement on it.
“I raised this matter in the Seanad by tabling a Commencement Debate outlining the urgent need for progress on this project just before Christmas and I’m delighted the project will soon get underway.
“Life expectancy for people with CF has increased progressively in recent years, which is really positive. This means it is incumbent on Government to respond to the increased numbers of adults with cystic fibrosis being treated in adult centres, and the increased complexity of cases.
“I am delighted that patients will soon benefit from this state of the art new unit.”
