Parliamentary Question addressed to the Minister for Education and Skills
9th June 2012 - Olivia Mitchell TD
To ask the Minister for Education and Skills further to Parliamentary Question
No. 167 of 6 June 2012, regarding the conditions of staff transferring to the
Qualifications and Quality Assurance Authority, if he will confirm that the
current pension entitlements of staff will be maintained as they currently
stand; and if he will make a statement on the matter?
Reply
I can assure the Deputy that there will be no change to the existing pension
entitlements of staff transferring to the Qualifications and Quality Assurance
Authority of Ireland (QQAAI) from one of the dissolved bodies, as a result of
their transfer to the new body.
The continuation of existing superannuation entitlements for staff transferring
to the QQAAI from one of the dissolved bodies (the NQAI, HETAC, and FETAC) is
specifically provided for in Section 22 (subsections 8, 9 and 10) of the
Qualifications and Quality Assurance (Education and Training) Bill 2011.
