Michael Murphy, TD
Michael was elected as a TD in November 2024; his council seat has been filled by way of co-option, with Tom Acheson replacing him on the Council.
Michael lives in Clonmel with his wife Jacinta and their son Alex.
Michael is always available – not just at election time. He strives to deliver new developments and enhancement for every parish in South Tipperary.
His roots are deeply entrenched across the constituency and as a family man he is closely involved with local communities and understands their challenges. He was elected to South Tipperary County Council in 2009 and has been re-elected at every Local Election since. He was elected as Mayor of Clonmel in 2024, for the second time and has served on the EU Committee of the Regions since 2015. His European experience gives him an insight into how EU decisions impact on citizens locally. His 15 years’ political experience combined with 30 years’ experience as a Senior Executive with the Enfer Technology Group qualify him to effectively represent the people of South Tipperary.
Michael is driven by the desire to see his county grow, businesses flourish, and for every resident to live with dignity, inclusion and opportunity.
