Referendums polling day order

Mr. Phil Hogan, T.D., Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government, has today (24 July 2013) made an order appointing Friday 4 October 2013 as the polling day at the referendums on the proposals for the amendments of the Constitution contained in the Thirty-second Amendment of the Constitution (Abolition of Seanad Éireann) Bill 2013 and the Thirty-third Amendment of the Constitution (Court of Appeal) Bill 2013

Visitor numbers up 5.4% for first half of Gathering year

Minister for Transport, Tourism & Sport Leo Varadkar, Tourism Ireland and Failte Ireland have welcomed the latest official data on overseas travel from the Central Statistics Office, which reported an increase of 5.4% in overseas visits to Ireland for the first half of 2013 compared to January-June 2012.

Streamlining of State support for small businesses will see them grow and prosper

Fine Gael Cork North West, Áine Collins, has welcomed the Government's proposal to streamline the system of State support for micro and small businesses across the country. "The decision to dissolve the existing County Enterprise Boards (CEBs) and to transfer their functions to Enterprise Ireland will make access to State support much easier for SME's and entrepreneurs. "Ease of access to supports is crucial in providing our indigenous businesses with the help they need and to encourage entrepreneurship. We know that 70% of new jobs created will come from new businesses, so having a one-stop- shop facility for businesses to go to will help speed up the process greatly and ensure that there's a consistency in service
