I very much welcome the intended appointment of an independent planning consultant by the Minister of State at the Department of the Environment, Community and Local Government and the 12 recommendations made in the review of the planning system in a number of local authorities.

The national spatial strategy was published in 2002 to be a blueprint for economic and social development within the State over the following 20 years.

To ask the Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government if he has received the report of the Expert Group set up to advise him on the proposed property tax; and if he will make a statement on the matter?
