Ireland South, Fine Gael MEP, Deirdre Clune has called for special training for judges and Gardaí on domestic violence. Speaking in a debate in the European Parliament, MEP Clune said that too many incidents of domestic violence in Ireland are going unreported.

Speaking in the Seanad today (Tuesday), Government Chief Whip, Paul Coghlan welcomed the news that Budget 2016 has been found broadly compliant with the rules of the Stability and Growth Pact at a Eurogroup discussion and says that this stability is facilitating improvements in services.

“Dundalk’s Clarke Station currently serves over 1,000 commuters every day and I have no doubt that this will increase as services expand”, says Fine Gael TD for Louth, Peter Fitzpatrick.

Fine Gael TD for Cork North Central, and Minister for European Affairs, Dara Murphy, has today (Tuesday) welcomed the launch of proposals by the Office of Public Works (OPW) to deal with the flooding problems in Blackpool. Minister Murphy said there will be an opportunity for members of the local community to share their concerns about the flooding issue at the public exhibition of the River Bride Blackpool Certified Drainage Scheme, in the local Community Centre, 90 Great William O'Brien Street, Blackpool.

Fine Gael Dublin Senator, Catherine Noone, has today (Tuesday) encouraged families to claim the home carers’ tax credit, where one spouse is staying at home to care for children or elderly relatives. Senator Noone noted that the tax credit available to home carers was increased in the recent Budget.

Fine Gael MEP, Brian Hayes has called on all Irish MEPs to back the Passenger Name Record Directive. The Directive requires passenger information collected by airlines to be shared with all EU police forces.

Fine Gael Waterford Minister Paudie Coffey said that 5 schools in Waterford are to benefit from funding under a multi-million euro school building programme. “Today the Government is unveiling a major school building programme, which involves funding for St Martin’s Special School, Ballytruckle; Glor Na Mara, Tramore; Newtown School, Waterford City; Blackwater Community College, Lismore; and Waterpark College, Waterford City.

Fine Gael Waterford Minister Paudie Coffey , has said that farmers across Waterford will benefit from a relaxation of farm inspections announced yesterday (Monday) by the European Commission.

There are now 207,400 people in work in the Region an increase of over 22,000 people since Fine Gael and Labour were elected to office in 2011.
