Minister Mary Mitchell O’Connor welcomes Oireachtas approval of the draft order to establish Ireland’s first Technological University

Technological universities will have an emphasis on the social and economic development of their regions through an emphasis on programmes at levels 6 to 8 (as well as post-graduate levels 9 and 10) on the National Qualifications Framework and the development and use of new knowledge through industry-focused research. Technological universities will also enhance the pivotal national role traditionally played by the Institutes of Technology in facilitating access and progression by a wide range of students.

Minister Mitchell O’Connor announces further €0.8 million funding allocation to support HE landscape restructuring

The Higher Education Authority (HEA) invited submissions for funding support in respect of the costs arising from landscape reform as part of the implementation of the National Strategy for Higher Education to 2030 in March 2018. The total funding available under this call in the academic year 2018/2019 is €12 million. Following the Minister of State’s announcement the full funding allocations have been made and are set out under. Expenditure will be subject to ongoing monitoring, review and formal approval by the HEA.
