Fine Gael TD for Dublin North, Alan Farrell, has today (Wednesday) welcomed the announcement by the Minister for Finance, Michael Noonan TD, that owners of houses affected by pyrite will not have to pay the property tax. Pyrite is a building material which has caused significant damage to homes. It has been used in the construction of thousands of houses in north Dublin, Meath and Kildare.

Special exemptions for the property tax should apply to homes which have been adapted for disabled persons was accepted.

Fine Gael TD for Dublin South, Olivia Mitchell, has today (Wednesday) said that the Opposition can't have it both ways when it comes to the bank debt deal achieved by the Government last week.

Fine Gael Meath East TD, Regina Doherty, has today (Wednesday) welcomed the inclusion in the Finance Bill of a waiver for the Local Property Tax for pyrite homes. Deputy Doherty previously raised concerns with the Minister for Finance, Michael Noonan TD, on the matter.
