The Taoiseach, Mr Enda Kenny TD, will travel to the United States later today for a series of engagements in New York.

This is a new export-led business that will provide a virtual shop window for Irish made crafts and goods targeted principally at the 40 million strong Irish-American audience in the US market

This is a work in progress, with the emphasis on the word “progress”. Ireland has proven how a small, regional economy can grow at a fast rate over a sustained period. We can do so again.

It is the first time that the Congress has been held in Mullingar and while we don’t all profess loyalty to the maroon and white, we are nevertheless united by a deep love of Gaelic games and value its central place in Irish life and culture.

I would like to emphasize that today’s event can not only influence the future generations and inheritors of this country, but also benefit our economic recovery
