Tanya Cannon
Meet Tanya Cannon, a proud Athlone native and Fine Gael General Election Candidate. Tanya has dedicated her life to building and nurturing her Athlone-based business, A1 Cleaning, one of the Midlands’ most prominent cleaning companies with up to 50 employees.
Tanya’s commitment to Athlone is more than just business. She actively supports local initiatives, sports clubs, voluntary and community groups. She works closely with St. Peter’s Football Club, Esker House, and the RNLI.
With a can-do attitude, Tanya is passionate about using her personal experiences and insights to address the needs of the local community.
Tanya’s Priorities:
- Supporting Local Businesses: As an experienced business owner, I know the challenges facing our business owners. I want to see more supports for local businesses in order to keep their doors open and people employed.
- Championing Sport and Healthy Communities: I want to continue to support our individual clubs as well as initiatives such as the Athlone Regional Sports Centre.
- Increased Investment for Athlone: We must plan in advance for improved infrastructure and investment in our road network across Westmeath. We must also ensure the services and facilities in TUS Athlone meet the needs of our expanding student body in Athlone and are accessible to all.
- Continued support for Westmeath Hospice: It is essential that the development of South Westmeath Hospice continues to be prioritised as part of the new extension to the Primary Care Centre in Athlone.
- Supporting our Future Generation: I hear daily about the struggle to access educational supports for those with additional needs. I want to see more school places, afterschool programmes and outdoor play areas.
