Leonora Carey
Leonora Carey is from Clarecastle and the daughter of former Fine Gael TD, Donal Carey. Her brother Joe, also served as a TD for Fine Gael in Clare from 2007 until 2024.
A long-term member of Fine Gael herself, Leonora also served on the Fine Gael Executive Council for 10 years, acting as Chairperson for two years.
Leonora is a qualified occupational therapist (OT) by profession, with over 25 years’ clinical experience and 17 years as an OT manager.
During her career she has represented OT and other Health and Social Care Partnerships (HSCP) on the National Clinical Programme for Palliative Care, supporting the work of policy and competency development in this speciality area.
Leonora has always been very active in her local community, and in particular has supported the work of the local regatta and community lotto. She wants to see the local economy in Clare continue to grow, building a network of supports for the childcare and carer sectors. Clare has benefitted from education investment and if elected, Leonora will work to ensure this continues so the younger generation have every opportunity afforded to them to develop and thrive.
