Cllr Rachel Kerley
Rachel was co-opted as a Councillor for the Ardee electoral area, replacing Paula Butterly, following her election to the Dáil
She was proud to be the Fine Gael Local Election candidate for the Ardee LEA in the June 2024 Local Elections. Rachel is passionate about representing rural communities and ensuring that smaller villages are not overlooked but instead given the opportunities and resources they deserve.
Rachel grew up in Reaghstown, where her family runs The Danny Boy Public House. She holds undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in Social Policy and Rights from Maynooth University. For the past two years, she has worked as an administrative assistant in Leinster House, where she gained valuable experience and deepened her commitment to making a meaningful impact through public service.
Community involvement has always been central to her life. Rachel is an active member of her local GAA committee and loves helping people by addressing their concerns and guiding them to the information and support they need. Her determination to fight for the needs of our local areas is matched by her energy and enthusiasm for helping Ardee and its surrounding communities thrive.
As a Councillor, Rachel’s priorities will include improving street lighting and rural roads, introducing traffic calming measures near play areas, and ensuring that young people have the opportunity to live and work in our local communities. She is also committed to making rural Ireland more accessible for people with disabilities, so everyone can fully participate in community life.
Rachel wants to use her experience, passion, and strong voice to represent the people of Ardee. “I am here to stand up for those who feel unheard and to ensure our communities are supported to reach their full potential. Together, we can build a brighter future for Ardee and its surrounding areas.”
