Cllr Paul Ross
Paul was elected Cathaoirleach of Longford County Council in June 2020, and held that office for twelve months.
Paul was first elected in 2019; he earns his living as a farmer and is married to Jenny. In terms of sport he is chairman of Legan and Sarsfields GAA club, he is also Chairperson of Legan Community Text Alert initiative. He is a former chairman of the Live Stock Committee in Longford IFA. Politically speaking Paul is a founder member of Young Fine Gael in Longford.
Among his immediate priorities are job creation, maintenance of road networks, and the availability of high speed broadband. As well as this he is intent on completing ghost estates in the area and will endeavour to assist farm families to maintain farm incomes.
As a former Longford County Footballer on the winning team who won the O’Byrne Cup in 2000, sports and health are important to Paul and he knows from his own experience that a healthy body is essential for a healthy mind and within this context he is committed to providing access to quality sporting facilities to all citizens.
