Cllr Martin Skelly
Martin Skelly from Newtowncashel is a dedicated family man with a strong commitment to community development and volunteering. He has a proven track record of leadership and advocacy for job creation and skills revitalisation in South Longford.
Through his involvement in local organisations and charity events, such as GAA Longford race day and the Longford Rose of Tralee, he has raised significant funds for local charities and Longford GAA. Additionally, his roles as Chairperson of the Leinster Council of the GAA and Longford County Board demonstrate his passion for promoting sports and community facilities.
Martin’s focus on improving infrastructure, such as roads and internet access, shows his commitment to enhancing the quality of life for all residents in the Ballymahon district. With a background in farming and finance, Martin is also acutely aware of the needs of people living in rural communities. Martin’s family is not new to politics as his grandfather, Tom O’Shea was a local County Councillor for the Ballymahon district from 1932 to 1945.
