Cllr Tom Ruddle

Cllr Tom Ruddle

My life in Newcastle West for the past 30 years, as a local citizen and family man, has been marked by involvement as a volunteer in a number of local organisations, all of which work towards enhancing the quality of life for the people of this community.

My youthful passion for athletics at international level has evolved into a determination to improve sporting facilities for all levels of ability in our area. I have had the privilege of first acting as chairperson of Newcastlewest Rovers , then, following our successful merger with Newcastlewest AFC, acting as co- chairperson of Newcastlewest Town FC.

The dream of high quality playing fields and clubhouse at Woodfield has been made a reality for 650 boys and girls and 100 adults through the hard work of a volunteer group, that I was happy to lead.
One of my priorities as chairperson was to ensure that the new facility would support Football for All [special needs football] and it is wonderful to see young people of all ages and abilities enjoying the benefit of participation in sport, making Newcastlewest Town a club that is truly welcoming to everyone.
My professional qualifications and experience in insurance, qualified financial advice, mediation, mortgage brokering and auctioneering, are all called upon in my other volunteer roles in local organisations, as a founding member of Newcastlewest Lions Club and in the local Chamber of Commerce.
I have a problem-solving approach to various issues that arise for local people, whether those issues affect an individual or affect our community.
My track record shows that you can expect nothing less than my full commitment in return for your support.
