Cllr Barry Walsh

Barry was co-opted as a Councillor in February, 2022 – replacing Mary Sweeney, who retired after more than 20 years’ service.

Educated in Ballyroan BNS and Heywood, he lives in the area with his wife and three young children.

Barry is a self-employed Quantity Surveyor, and a BER Assessor.  He has been involved in numerous community projects in the Ballyroan area.

  • Vice Chairman of Ballyroan Abbey Senior GAA Club
  • Member of Ballyroan Development Committee
  • Member of Ballyroan Abbey Facilities Development Committee
  • Project Managed three fundraising country music festivals locally with average attendances of 5000 plus
  • Involved in coaching role in Ballyroan Abbey Juvenile club and Ballyroan Bluestars basketball club
  • Involved in grant application preparation for several local organisations including sports capital grants, town and village renewal and leader grants

He enjoys GAA, Cycling, Basketball, hiking and current affairs
