Cllr Ollie Turner
Ollie Turner is a native of Milltown in North Galway, where he went to the local National School before being educated in St Jarlath’s College, Tuam.
After studying for an Arts Degree at the University of Galway, Ollie began life as Head of Sport in Galway Bay FM radio in November 2000. Apart from live sports commentaries and broadcasts from venues around the country, his radio career has seen Ollie present the Breakfast Show as well as the current affairs show and several music programmes.
A keen dramatist, Ollie has twice won the Best Actor award at the All-Ireland Drama Finals and has also directed for the Dunmore Amateur Drama Society. He is regularly in demand to act as MC at a variety of events, including the county selections of the Rose of Tralee and was selected as a judge at the Rose of Tralee International Festival in 2023. A keen golfer, playing off a handicap of 8, Ollie’s work ensures he has a deep interest in all sports.
Married to Therese Flaherty from Dunmore since 2001, they have three daughters, Rachel (23), Emma (22) and Laura (20).
