Senator Mary Seery-Kearney
In May 2019 Mary was elected to South Dublin County Council. She was the Area Chair in her first year, a member of the Special Policy Committee on Economic Development, Enterprise and Tourism, Vice Chair of the Joint Policing Committee and a member of the Dublin 12 Local Policing Forum.
In June 2020 she was appointed to the Seanad by the Taoiseach Micheál Martin at the behest of the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment Leo Varadkar TD, Fine Gael Party Leader. Mary has been appointed Seanad Spokesperson on Children, Disability, Equality, Integration and Privacy Rights. Mary is the FG dedicated Oireachtas Member for the Constituency of Dublin South Central for Fine Gael.
Mary is married to David and has a 6-year-old daughter, Scarlett. She grew up in Templeogue and lives on Templeville Road in what is called the County End of Dublin South Central. She has been a voice for others all of her life, whether as a practising barrister, Counselling Psychologist, or formerly as the CEO with the City of Dublin YMCA presiding over the building and provision of 55 units of housing and support services for homeless young people. Mary has been active in her community founding Soup Runs, volunteering with FLAC, representing families in the restructuring of their finances, staying in their homes, negotiating the restoration of tracker mortgages and advocating for compensation for them from their banks. As a qualified Counselling Psychologist, she spent her first years as a Counsellor with Oasis in Ballyfermot. She has taught Counselling skills in Rwanda to community leaders working with genocide survivors.
Mary is a practising Barrister specialising in Employment and Privacy Law, representing employee rights and negotiating for SMEs. She is a member of two European Task Forces and together with her husband David, ran a successful consultancy company specialising in Management, HR and Legal Services until her appointment to the Seanad in June 2020.
Mary has recently been elected Chair of the Dublin 12 Drugs Task Force and sits on the Joint Oireachtas Committees for

(2) Housing, Local Government and Heritage
(3) Disability Matters.
