Cllr Lorraine Hall
I’m Lorraine Hall and I was elected as a Councillor on my first outing in the 2019 Local Elections.
I live in Dún Laoghaire with my fiancé and two small children. I care deeply about our community and I want to see Dún Laoghaire thrive into the future. If re-elected to the Council for a second term, my priorities will be:
- More affordable housing so more people can live locally
- A vibrant local economy including a better night time economy
- More play & recreational facilities for children and teens
- Investment in better public transport and safe cycling
- Tackling antisocial behaviour for safer streets and communities
I’ve worked hard for my community since I was elected in 2019. People contact me every week and I do my best to help resolve their issues. I work closely with a number of resident associations, business groups and tidy towns organisations in my area. I’m also a member of the Dún Laoghaire Town Team and the Local Policing Committee.
My proudest achievements as a Councillor include:
- campaigning for the Living Streets project in Dún Laoghaire
- organising and delivering Dún Laoghaire’s first St. Patrick’s Day Parade in 50 years
- securing €150,000 for the skatepark on the West Pier in Dún Laoghaire
- securing funding for the Dún Laoghaire Comedy & Storytelling Festivals
- proposing the street art in Dún Laoghaire
- campaigning for Maternity Leave for Councillors and working to secure its introduction, and
- representing Fine Gael on the Citizens’ Assembly for a Directly Elected Mayor in Dublin
I’ve had a longstanding interest in politics and current affairs. I worked as a Policy and Research Officer for former Taoiseach, Enda Kenny TD, as a Press Adviser for former Minister for Justice, Alan Shatter TD, and a Special Adviser for former Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, Heather Humphreys TD.
After politics, I worked for Ibec and Hume Brophy for a number of years. I currently work as a full time Councillor.
