Rory Cocking is a Fine Gael Cork County Councillor for the Midleton Electoral Area, which is part of the East Cork Municipal District.

As a native of Midleton and a resident of the town, he is well acquainted with local area education, infrastructure, tourism, agriculture, fishing and business needs and the representation and investment necessary for these sectors to prosper locally.

A graduate of politics and international relations, he has worked as a Parliamentary Assistant in Dáil Éireann and in the Cork East Constituency Fine Gael office since 2017.

Working at community level, Rory ensures a strong, consistent voice for municipal district needs at local government level on areas such as:

  • The progression of flood relief programmes and interim and advance measures for East Cork.
  • Opportunities for local business, tourism, agriculture, fishing and food.
  • Addressing the issue of vacancy and dereliction.
  • Promoting road safety improvements and maintenance.
  • Tackling littering and fly-tipping.
  • The increased local demand for school places, special school places and associated transport.
  • Development of much-needed local recreational amenities and playgrounds.
