Cllr Aileen Browne
Aileen, a Charleville native, was co-opted as a Councillor in December, 2024, replacing John Paul O’Shea, following his election to Dáil Éireann.
Aileen is a Healthcare Manager and a strong Community Activist. She was elected as the first female Chairperson of Charleville GAA in 2020 and helped steer the Club through the Covid challenges. She is currently Vice Chairperson of the Club.
She got involved in politics while in college and was elected Vice President of UCC Students Union in 1995. Aileen has been involved in Fine Gael for many years serving in many roles in the Party and is currently a member of the Fine Gael National Executive
Aileen was Director of Elections for John Paul O’Shea in the recent General Election and also in the Summer Local Elections – enjoying success on both occasions!
She was a Local Election Candidate in 2014 polling just less than 1,000 First Preference Votes.
As a member of Cork County Council Aileen hope to continue the excellent work done by John Paul O’Shea and to work to support Community and Sporting Groups, Local Businesses and to prioritise Infrastructure, Communication and Volunteerism
Aileen hopes to be a role model for other women and girls and to encourage more of them to get involved in politics.
Aileen is committed to working hard to make Charleville and the surrounding towns and villages an even better places to live, work and grow old in.
