Cllr Úna McCarthy
Úna joined Cork County Council in October 2023, when she was co-opted to replace Cllr. Michael Paul Murtagh to represent the Carrigaline Local Electoral Area. She was elected in the 2024 Local Elections, and has since been selected to contest the General Election, in Cork South Central.
Úna grew up in Rochestown and went to school in St. Peter’s Community School in Passage West, where she now teaches. She lives with her family in Carrigaline.
She holds a Bachelor of Business degree and a higher diploma in Education, as well as a postgraduate diploma in Educational Leadership. A keen sports enthusiast, Úna coaches camogie with her school camogie team and with Carrigaline Camogie Club. Her priorities include improving sports and recreation facilities and enhancing local infrastructure.
