Offaly company to deliver 64 new ambulances as part of €9.4m investment – Corcoran Kennedy

6th November 2015 - Marcella Corcoran Kennedy TD

“The Minister for Health, Leo Varadkar, this week announced the provision of the first three of 64 ambulances being provided this year by Wilker Auto Converters of Clara, Co. Offaly”, says Fine Gael TD for Laois/Offaly, Marcella Corcoran Kennedy.

“As part of the fleet replacement programme, €9.4 million has been invested to provide 64 new ambulances and a new Rapid Response Vehicle. The first three of these ambulances were provided today by Wilker Auto Converters of Clara, who are due to fulfil the complete contract.

“The 64 vehicles will be allocated to ambulance bases across Ireland before the end of the year to replace vehicles which have reached the end of their life-cycle, and to support additional services. A Rapid Response Vehicle was also unveiled today, which will allow paramedics to get to the patient and start treatment while an ambulance is in transit.

“I very much welcome the involvement of a successful Offaly company in the provision of these vital vehicles. It is a testament to the skills available here in Offay that this contract was won, and I know that Wilker Auto Converters is just one of the many vibrant businesses operating throughout Offaly.”
