O’Dowd encourages Louth animal welfare organisation to apply for funding
30th June 2016 - Fine Gael Press Office
Fine Gael TD for Louth, Fergus O’Dowd, has encouraged animal welfare organisations based in Louth to apply for funding under a new scheme announced by Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Michael Creed.
“A new fund for animal welfare organisations has been announced by Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Michael Creed. I encourage animal welfare organisations here in Louth to apply for this funding which will be of great assistance to them in their work.
“These organisations do phenomenal work looking after and re-homing vulnerable animals in our community.
“Furthermore they do great work as advocates for animal rights, an area in which there is increased focus now with the introduction of new legislation such as the Animal Health and Welfare Act 2013 and the Dog Breeding Establishments Act 2010.
“These organisations help to educate the public as to why we must look after pets and wild animals and ensure they are treated with care. Many of them also offer tips and assistance to people who need support in looking after animals.
“In order to apply for this new round of funding, organisations should fill in the application form on the website of the Department of Agriculture:
