Now is the time for NAMA to act on Naas Town Centre
8th September 2015 - Senator Anthony Lawlor
Fine Gael TD for Kildare North, Anthony Lawlor, is again calling on NAMA to expedite the sale of the Town Centre and to have the vacant building, which has been an eyesore for too long, completed and open for trading.
“In recent times I have been contacted by a number of groups interested in the Town Centre and I have directed them towards NAMA who hold the balance of power on all decisions made on the building. I firmly believe that now is the optimum time to sell the building and that the current economic climate is certainly more favourable to investors.
A speedy sale of the Town Centre would be hugely beneficial to Naas and bring much needed trade into the town. This is particularly so when one takes into consideration the recent investments by large companies, such as Kerry Group, which are having a positive knock on effect throughout the town and the area.
The state of the current building and the cranes which have become a permanent feature of the town’s landscape are a constant reminder to the people of Naas of the recent economic difficulties the country has faced. To have this building completed and open to trade would put this dark period rightly in its in place in our past.”
