23rd January 2015 - Fine Gael Press Office
Fine Gael TD for Cork South West, Noel Harrington has said that the decision by the Minister of State for Tourism and Sport, Michael Ring T.D, to grant €3.8m for a replacement pool in Dunmanway, Cork is a major boost for the town and the area. The money has been allocated to Cork County Council under the Local Authority Swimming Pool Programme.
“This is excellent news for Dunmanway and the surrounding area. The town will have a high quality, modern pool and leisure facility. Having communicated the need for a replacement pool for Dunmanway to Minister Ring, I am delighted that this funding has now been provided. Now that the money has been approved, the Council can commence the construction process.
“The new facility will include a 25m x 10.5m swimming pool, a toddler pool, a health suite to include sauna and steam room, changing facilities and disabled changing rooms. The replacement pool, as well as improving efficiency, will also include a hydrotherapy pool. The estimated total cost of the project is €6.1m including VAT.”
