New feasibility fund for Cork entrepreneurs will help boost new start-ups – Murphy

Fine Gael Cork North Central TD, Dara Murphy, has today (Friday) said a new €200,000 Enterprise Ireland fund for entrepreneurs in Cork will help to boost new start-ups and create jobs. The fund, which is specifically targeted at Cork businesses, will allow local entrepreneurs to explore the feasibility of their start-up ideas.

“Two thirds of all new jobs are being created by start-ups, so the Government is determined to do all it can to make it as easy as possible to start a business and create jobs. This new fund for Cork entrepreneurs can provide up to €25,000 towards the cost of a feasibility study to help new entrepreneurs to validate their start-up ideas.

“The fund aims to boost start-ups and stimulate growth and job creation in Cork City and County. More than 1,200 jobs are being created across the country every week, and I want to make sure that as many of these jobs as possible are being created in Cork. The city has a strong reputation for innovation and its entrepreneurial base, and I am confident that this fund will help to boost this even further.

“The deadline for applications for funding under this new scheme is 6pm, Friday 25^th April 2014. It will be a competitive process with a particular focus on supporting innovative, growth-oriented businesses with the potential to move into export markets over time. 

“So if you have a new business idea and you are based in Cork city or county, then applying for this fund is a must. It could be just what you need to get your business idea off the ground.”
