New DHL Cork Airport cargo operation is positive for businesses and customers in Munster – Buttimer

Plans by DHL Express is to establish new cargo operations from Cork Airport to the company’s largest European hub in Germany is positive for Munster, Fine Gael Senator Jerry Buttimer has said.
Senator Buttimer, who represents Cork South Central and is a member of the Oireachtas Transport Committee, said: “The announcement today by Cork Airport of an Air Cargo service to DHL Express’ hub in Leipzig, Germany, is a positive and welcome move for Cork airport and businesses in Munster.
“It offers an opportunity to all the exporters in Munster to export goods to continental Europe via Cork Airport which is Brexit proof and convenient.
“The service will be operated initially by a Boeing 767 lower deck aircraft five days per week, Monday to Friday inclusive.
“It is good see a wide body 767 cargo aircraft using Cork and being handled by Cork Airport. It continues to show that Cork airport can continue to attract a leading global brand along with diversifying its operations.
“It will also better serve the needs of the business community in the South of Ireland and provide for earlier deliveries and later collections for customers within Cork, which is to be welcomed,” Senator Buttimer concluded.
