Neville welcomes 35 new jobs for Newcastle West

Fine Gael Party Chairperson, and TD for Limerick, Dan Neville, has today (Tuesday), welcomed the announcement by Minister for Jobs, Enterprise & Innovation, Richard Bruton TD that 35 new manufacturing jobs are set to be created at Filtertek Ireland in Newcastle West.

“I am extremely pleased to hear that Filtertek Ireland are expanding their operations in Newcastle West and that 35 new manufacturing jobs will be added over the next five years. The new positions will be a mix of machine operators, moulding technicians, engineers, quality technicians and production supervisors.

“This is a great vote of confidence in the skills base of Newcastle West and in the economy, and it will bring Filtertek’s total employment to almost 100 people in the area.

“ Filtertek is a medical device components manufacturer specialising in plastic insert moulded filtration and flow control components. Their customers are market leaders in this area so the highest quality is required from the Newcastle West workforce at all times.

“Manufacturing has been neglected by previous Government’s but since taking office Minister Bruton has been working towards creating more jobs in this area. Today’s announcement marks another step towards securing more manufacturing jobs and it brings us closer to the goal of creating 100,000 new jobs by 2016. The policies being pursued by this Government are working and the economy is slowly starting to recover.

“I know that there are still too many people out of work in Limerick but the Government remains focused on job creation and on spreading the recovery to all regions of the country.

“Filtertek was established in Newcastle West in 1982 and 32 years later they are still providing vital employment to the area. Today’s announcement indicates that Filtertek will continue to provide work and to positively impact on businesses in Newcastle West long into the future.”
