6th July 2013 - Paul Kehoe
Wexford Minister of State at the Department of Defence, Paul Kehoe TD has welcomed an announcement from Minister for Justice, Alan Shatter TD that Garda recruitment will resume in the coming year.
“This is good news for Wexford garda numbers and for ensuring we keep our communities safe and crime down.
“Fine Gael had always committed to re-opening Garda recruitment and I’m delighted that this is now happening. The Government have given Minister for Justice permission to resume recruitment. This will be the first intake of training Gardaí for a number of years.
“Many Wexford people that are interested in joining the Guards have come to me in recent years asking when recruitment will start, I have now been told information on recruitment will be announced shortly.
“This will now mean that County Wexford will also have the Garda numbers to support the existing Gardaí in the County”.
