Minister for Health James Reilly- Addres to ENVI at the Public Hearing on Tobacco Products in the European Parliament

The Minister for Health James Reilly, T.D. addressed the Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety (ENVI) at the Public Hearing on Tobacco Products in the European Parliament yesterday (25th February 2013). Minister Reilly spoke about his commitment to tackling the problem of smoking and noted that his objective during the Irish Presidency is to build consensus and facilitate agreement among Member States on the proposed revision of the Tobacco Directive.
The issue of Europe working together towards a smoke free environment is one of the matters on the Agenda for discussion at the European Informal Meeting of Health Ministers due to take place in Dublin Castle on the 4th and 5th March.
