Minister Coffey announces additional €300,000 in funding for Housing Adaptation Grant Schemes

30th November 2015 - Senator Paudie Coffey

Fine Gael Waterford Minister Paudie Coffey who has special responsibility for Housing has announced an additional €300,000 in funding for Housing Adaptation Schemes  for Older People and People with a Disability.  Minister Coffey said that this funding comes on top of the €1 million already secured for these schemes in 2015.

“This additional funding arises from normal, end-of-year management on the schemes, where we’re in constant contact with the LAs to ensure full drawdown and that results at this time of year in a few declarations of underpayment, allowing us to re-allocate to those LAs who have been able to do more.   Alongside the exchequer additional allocations, the LAs must co-fund a further 20%.

“These grants provide older people and people with a disability the opportunity to continue independent living in their own homes for as long as possible.  It can also be seen as supporting those local authorities that show initiative in delivering these services to their citizens and to putting up the additional co-funding.

“I am pleased to continue to secure even more housing investment for Waterford.  As Minister I’ve secured €35 million for capital housing projects in Waterford City and County and I expect to make further announcements in this regard in the coming weeks.”
