McLoughlin welcomes exciting new venture for Sligo as LiveTiles to establish AI innovation centre

10th April 2018 - Tony McLoughlin TD

Some 50 new high quality jobs will be created in Sligo this year by global software company LiveTiles, a Fine Gael TD has said.

Sligo-Leitrim Deputy and Assistant Fine Gael Party Whip, Tony McLoughlin, has warmly welcomed the decision by the global software company to invest in Sligo.

LiveTiles will establish a brand new Intelligent Innovation Centre in Sligo, in order to support the development of its Artificial Intelligence (AI) products.

Deputy McLoughlin said: “This announcement today by LiveTiles’s co-founders Karl Redenbach and Peter Nguyen-Brown, whom I had the pleasure of meeting last month in Dublin with Minister Heather Humphreys TD, is a major boost for Sligo and for the entire North West Region.

“This new development in Sligo will be the first of its kind to be developed in Ireland and I have no doubt that the company will thrive and prosper here, aided in no small way by our rich talent pool being developed at IT Sligo.

“This is a very exciting time for the people of Sligo and for the North West as a whole, as we begin a new phase of economic development here.”

This large international software company is based in New York and boasts large customers such as Pepsi and the US Department of Defence.

Deputy McLoughlin continued: “As a public representative for this region, it is very encouraging to see a US company of this stature establish its base in Sligo and also to hear its representatives say that they are excited about the new up-and-coming technology scene developing in Sligo and that the reasons for investing is because they want to be a part of it.

“I want to wish LiveTiles, the IDA and all the agencies involved in this announcement all the best in their development of this AI Innovation Centre in the ‘Land of Hearts Desire’.

“I am very confident that with the renewed focus on the border region and the North West in particular by the IDA, as announced by Minister Humphreys, that this announcement today is just the start of exciting times ahead for Sligo and the North West.”
