3rd March 2015 - Aoife Carragher

Fine Gael TD for Donegal, Dinny McGinley has welcomed the announcement that the Department of Justice and the Department of the Environment are to come together to continue a scheme to promote social inclusion and equality for women.

“I warmly welcome the news that the Government has committed to social inclusion for women by continuing the scheme based on the work of the National Collective of Community Based Women’s Networks (NCCWN) and is aimed at promoting equality between men and women and to ensuring that women can achieve their full potential while enjoying a safe and fulfilling life.

“I have made a number of representations on behalf of Donegal Women’s Network who do excellent work in representing the women of the locality and I am very pleased that this scheme, which will give a voice to the women of Donegal, has been approved.

“The Minister for the Environment, Alan Kelly has confirmed that his Department is contributing significant funding to the scheme.

“Women’s networks across the country have been central in advancing women’s rights and in ensuring that women are represented at all levels of business and society. An equal society is good for society and it is good for the economy.”
