McFadden welcomes news that HSE to honour pledge to fill 90 posts at Mullingar Hospital
22nd April 2015 - Fine Gael Press Office
Fine Gael TD for Longford/ Westmeath, Gabrielle McFadden, has welcomed the news that the HSE is to honour its commitment to fill 90 posts at the Midlands Regional Hospital in Mullingar.
“Despite the frustrating impasse which never should have happened, I am delighted to learn that the HSE will now honour its commitment to fill 90 nursing posts at Mullingar Hospital.
“The INMO has confirmed recruitment will begin next month and all staff are due to be in place by October.
“I made a number of very strong representations to Health Minister Leo Varadkar about the issue and he became very aware of what was an unnecessary roadblock.
“I am now glad to see that these nursing and midwifery posts are finally coming on stream to address the serious staffing shortages at the hospital.”
