Lights to be turned back on in Cruagh, Stepaside
The Local Fine Gael TD, Peter Mathews, is delighted that Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council have agreed to fix the street lights in Cruagh Wood and Cruagh Manor in Stepaside.
“For too long, Cruagh has been cast in darkness as a result of broken streetlights not being repaired. Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council was not prepared to maintain the estate until certain matters were resolved with the developers.
“A large number of residents complained to me that they are practically walking in the dark from the main road into the estate. This creates an unsafe environment. One resident counted seven broken street lights on the way to her house and reported that there were even more broken street lights further in the estate. In total, 19 broken street lights have been reported to me in this estate with less than 100 houses.
“I have been in constant contact with the Council in an attempt to prioritise this problem. I am delighted to be able to report that the Council have now agreed to repair the street lights. They are not yet able to ‘take in charge’ the access road through Cairnfort, but they have agreed to look after the lights while outstanding matters in Cairnfort are resolved.
